My name is Katie Ude and I’m a philomath.
Now you might be wondering – what is a philomath and how is that relevant to being a developer? Simply stated, it is someone who loves learning and studying. I am a firm believer that the second one starts to think they are good at something, perspective begins to fade and so does the desire to grow and push oneself to be better. I see everyday as an opportunity to expand one’s horizons.
I have several years of experience as a UI-focused full stack developer working on a variety of technologies in an agency setting. I have an insatiable need to understand how everything works and a track record of producing high-quality work. Last, I am able to use my critical thinking skills to help provide solutions for clients as well as make progress in the face of ambiguity.
My current skills include the following:
- Frontend Development: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, React, Redux, GraphQL
- Backend Development: Node & Express, PHP, Rails, Microservice design
- Database & DevOps: SQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Jenkins, Docker
- Tools: RESTful APIs, LESS, SASS, JS build tools (Webpack, Babel)
- Other: Git/GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Sketch, Adobe XD
When I am not pouring over code, I enjoy listening to music (esp. live), reading a good book, or baking decadent desserts (typically involving chocolate). There is also a chance you might find me teaching a Pilates or yoga class. I also love to travel and think some of the best conversations happen over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
